The Samsung series 5 offers its user a brilliant design for the price of the laptop. Although Samsung do have other series with a superior design the Samsung series 5 is a very nice looking laptop for the price it retails at. The latest laptop is very thin at 17.6mm and is made from the brushed aluminum used by many of its more expensive competitors. This gives the laptop a great look as well as making it sturdier and a lot more hard wearing than the plastic used in some other laptops.

Build and Quality

The build quality is fairly good and although the aluminum used is not as strong as say its high end competitor the Mac but it is very strong and does not show any signs or flexing when opening the laptop or during general use. The aluminum also makes for a clean looking machine as fingerprints do not show on the material.

For such a thin laptop the Samsung Series 5 review offers a good amount of ports making for good connectivity. The laptop contains a USB port, and Ethernet port as well as HDMI for connecting the laptop to a TV or monitor for video output. As well as a headphone jack there is also a very small VGA port which is usable with the adaptor that Samsung supply you with.

The typing experience on this laptop is overall very nice and has a great layout. The mouse pad offers good traction and overall is very usable. The one thing missing on this keyboard is backlighting however many laptops at this price do not have this specification.

The speakers on the Samsung Series 5 offer a good sound for a laptop of its size and value.  There is a decent volume on the laptop and the sound that is achieved at full volume isn’t as tinny as some other models which mean that this laptop is great for listening to music as well as watching media. This info alongside the VGA and HDMI port makes the Samsung Series great for any media use.

The colour and contrast on the screen is fairly good however blacks are more a grey rather than a deep black. This doesn’t affect it too much however and this screen is definitely one of the better budget displays I have seen.

The processor within this laptop is fairly good and will hold up for programmes such as Microsoft word and surprisingly Adobe. This may not be the best choice as a gaming PC though.

Overall Review

This laptop hosts brilliant technology and is the perfect option as a family or home computer, particular with its strength and media. That said it is also the perfect laptop for travel as it is fairly light and transportable due to its size. This also means it could make a good business laptop.
